And an eye, somewhere…
Stravinsky Motel explores the essence of life as a couple, our ability to coexist, to cohabitate, to share our space and rhythm with another, and our capacity to reinvent ourselves through play.
In this piece, the dancers’ bodies move feverishly and joyfully to music ranging from Petrouchka to the Rite of Spring, pounding out the rhythm of competitive ballroom dance steps as they drive toward a common direction.
They fluctuate between the reasonable and the over-the-top, between deviousness and magic.
Igor Stravinsky’s balletic works, Petrouchka , and the Rite of Spring, in their original versions intended for a “four hand” piano, are played live and in juxtaposition with the soundtrack and dialogues from two American classics : Psycho and The Night of the Hunter.
